Since she was hired in 1993,
Prof. Ramos has organized numerous activities to increase the number
of women in physics and electronics. As part of that effort,
she has organized workshops for women admitted to the Program of
Physics and Electronics, a mentoring program for new women students,
conferences with women scientists who serve as role models for the
students and recruitment activities for high school students.
She is the advisor of the student association Laboratorio
Feminista, a group of women students in science at UPR-Humacao.
Prof. Ramos has supervised more than 30 students in
undergraduate research projects and leads funded research projects
including a NSF partnership between UPR-Humacao and the
University of Pennsylvania. Her current research is
in the area of materials for sensors and actuators.
